P. Thomas Hirsch

P. Thomas Hirsch has had extensive experience in the management and operations of hospital and independent laboratories. Prior to LBS, Mr. Hirsch was President and Chief Executive Officer of Path Lab, Inc. from June 1984 through February 2003, a highly successful hospital based independent laboratory. The company was sold to LabCorp in April of 2001 for in excess of $100 million. Path Lab was the second largest laboratory in New England with annual sales of $70 million. The laboratory was an industry leader in working with institutions and developing innovative solutions to enhance laboratory performance. Path Lab managed six hospital laboratories, five major physician office labs, and has other management agreements with New York University Medical Center and Clinical Laboratory Partners, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hartford Hospital.
Mr. Hirsch also served as President of Diagnostic Laboratory Services in Honolulu, Hawaii from 1989 to 1994. The company was a joint venture with Queens Medical Center that Mr. Hirsch helped start in 1986 and grew into the largest laboratory in Hawaii with $35 million in sales. Mr. Hirsch also assisted two hospitals in Worcester, Massachusetts in establishing a joint venture laboratory to serve the two institutions and central Massachusetts, and served as Chief Executive Officer of that organization from 1988 to 1991.
Mr. Hirsch has also worked on numerous laboratory consulting assignments with academic health center and other major hospital systems. In addition, he has advised several healthcare private equity firms in evaluating laboratory acquisitions and mergers. From 2011 to 2013 he worked closely with Accretive, LLC in developing their lab sector initiative, aLabs, as Founding Executive. He was instrumental in closing the initial management contracts with Sharp HealthCare and ACL, a jointly owned laboratory of Advocate Health Care and Aurora Health Care in the Midwest.
Mr. Hirsch previously served as Associate in the Health and Medical Division of Booz-Allen & Hamilton in New York, where he performed strategic planning and financial management assignments for large hospitals and academic health centers. After Booz-Allen, he was Director of Laboratory Production and then Vice President of Laboratory Operations for Metpath, Inc., now known as Quest Diagnostics.
Mr. Hirsch’s earlier positions include administrative and financial planning responsibilities at the Boston Department of Health and Hospitals, Boston, Massachusetts. He also served as Director of Affiliation Administration for the New York City’s Health and Hospitals Corporation, where he managed a $160 million contract program that provided all physician services in New York City’s sixteen municipal hospitals. In his last assignment with the corporation, he served as Associate Executive Director or Operations, Harlem Hospital Center.
Mr. Hirsch served on the Board of Directors of the American Clinical Laboratory Association from 1995 until 2001. He also served on the Board of Converge Diagnostics Services from 2008-2013, which was recently sold to Quest Diagnostics, and the Advisory Board of Slone Partners (2011-2013). He counsels many of his billing company clients’ on strategic matters and served as an advisor to the board of Carilion Consolidated Labs from 2006 to 2010, when the company merged with the Spectrum Laboratories (now called Solstas Lab Partners).
Mr. Hirsch earned his MBA degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration in 1978 and his BA degree magna cum laude from Duke University in 1974.
John M. Herring
John Herring has served as CEO of Seacoast Laboratory Data Systems since its founding in 1986. Headquartered in Portsmouth, NH, Seacoast is a nationwide provider of Laboratory and Financial systems as well as support and customized software solutions to the laboratory industry.
For nearly 15 years, Seacoast Laboratory Data Systems has provided quality customizable software solutions and services to commercial and hospital outreach laboratories nationwide.
Mr. Herring and his team have considerable experience designing and writing interfaces for many laboratory and financial applications. His group has an outstanding reputation for completing projects on time and cost effectively.

Diane Gum, who earned a degree in Medical Technology, is responsible for managing LBS’ interfaces with hospital financial and lab systems, new client set up, and overseeing the ongoing development of programming enhancements to LBS’ core capabilities.
Ms. Gum was the former manager of the central facility laboratory of Path Lab, which performed 1.5 million tests annually and employed over 60 FTE’s. She later managed all lab system installations at new hospitals and large physician office labs accounts, and was the company’s most effective resource in improving workflow and productivity for new clients.

Dawn Dickinson, who earned degrees in Marketing and Healthcare Business Administration, is responsible for managing the day to day relationship with all of LBS’ clients. In addition to being the primary interface with the labs we service, Dawn has the claims submission, AR management, payment posting, and Customer Service functions reporting to her.
Ms. Dickinson previously worked as Director of Customer Service for Path Lab where she oversaw a staff of twenty people handling client inquiries related to lab operations and technical services.
